So, I didn't see the suggestions until later that the alignment tool should be able to pull out freely. When I did pull it out, I definitely had to use a little extra force. In retrospect, it probably would have been a little easier had it been pushed upwards a little when tightening the bolts. Also, I did put the hoist back at the front of the engine and leaned it a little more. Lastly, I substituted the rear hydraulic jack with myself underneath it basically forcing it up while on my back, while wiggling and attempting to twist it clockwise as mentioned. I think more than anything that probably made sure the splines went through the clutch disc (the rotating). Thanks to all the suggestions!  (I don't have all the bolts in yet)
